New era for The Generous Briton following freehold sale

The Generous Briton in Brant Broughton, Lincolnshire, has been sold for continued use as a public house after being marketed at an asking price of £495,000 by hospitality property specialist Sidney Phillips.

The sale marks a new chapter for the village pub, which had been operated by the outgoing owners since 2008. They acquired the freehold in March 2013.

Situated just off the A17, around eight miles east of Newark, The Generous Briton was described in the sales particulars as the village’s only public house. Its high street position places it within a community served by a primary school, village hall, recreation ground and nearby camping and glamping facilities.

The two-storey, semi-detached property provides a main bar seating 28 and a restaurant seating 22, with an open stone fireplace. A commercial kitchen supports the food operation, while the private accommodation includes two double bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and an office with potential for use as an additional bedroom.

Outside, there is parking for 12 vehicles, a roadside trade patio seating 26 and a rear patio with a smoking shelter and seating for 20. A lawned area to the rear was identified in the particulars as offering potential for a beer garden, subject to the relevant permissions.

The business has drawn both local customers and destination diners, with a traditional British menu focusing on fresh game, alongside regular quiz nights and occasional celebratory functions. The freehold was marketed by Sidney Phillips at offers in the region of £495,000, including goodwill, fixtures and fittings, with stock at valuation in addition.
