A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This page explains which ones Sidney Phillips uses, and what you can choose.
Cookies we set only if you agree
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used - which listings are viewed, how people arrive, which pages are not working well. These cookies are not set when you arrive. You will be asked first, and nothing is stored on your device unless you choose Accept.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to two years and distinguish one visitor from another. They do not tell us who you are.
If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. We still receive a count of page views with nothing stored on your device and nothing that could identify you.
Cookies we have to set
These are set only when you do something that needs them, and the site cannot provide those features without them:
- Signing in. If you register or sign in, we set a cookie so the site knows it is you as you move between pages, and so you can choose to stay signed in. It is removed when you sign out.
- Form security. Pages with a form - an enquiry, a registration - set a short-lived cookie that lets us confirm the form was submitted from this website and not by someone else on your behalf.
- Your cookie choice. Whether you accepted or declined is remembered in your browser, so you are not asked on every page.
- Keeping the site available. Our hosting sets a cookie that keeps you on the same server for the length of your visit.
Because these are strictly necessary for features you have asked for, they do not require consent. They are not used to track you or to advertise to you.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time:
Every browser also lets you see the cookies a site has set and delete them, and lets you block cookies entirely. Blocking them will stop you signing in and may stop enquiry forms working, but you will still be able to browse the site.
