Wrexham’s historic 'The Midland' comes to market for £475,000

The Midland, a Grade II listed pub and former sports bar in the heart of Wrexham, has come to market with an asking price of £475,000 for the freehold, including fixtures and fittings.

Situated on High Street on the city centre’s main drinking circuit, the property is being marketed through Sidney Phillips. The venue is currently closed and previously combined daytime food and sports viewing with late-night entertainment.

Housed in a building dating from 1912, the former Midland Bank premises extend to approximately 8,690 sq ft across three storeys and a basement. A yellow sandstone façade and traditional Welsh slate roof frame an interior distinguished by high ceilings, stained glass windows, chandeliers and grand arches.

The open-plan trading space provides seating for more than 100, with a long bar servery and equipped back bar. The accommodation also includes a raised stage area, pool table, darts throw and a dining area, while more than 30 large television screens reflect the venue’s previous sports-led operation.

Supporting facilities include food preparation areas, first-floor storage and a fully equipped commercial kitchen on the second floor, together with a walk-in fridge/freezer. The basement houses a cellar, keg room and additional storage. Outside, there is seating for 24 at the front and an enclosed, sheltered smoking area at the rear accommodating 20.

Before its closure, The Midland operated as a casual venue for food, family dining and daytime sports fixtures, switching to a nightclub and disco format at night and at weekends, with karaoke, DJ sets and live entertainment. This is an opportunity for an experienced operator to acquire a turnkey business in a growing North Wales city.
