YHA Blaxhall, a nine-bedroom youth hostel located in Suffolk, has been sold through property specialist Sidney Phillips.
The property is situated in the quaint Suffolk village of Blaxhall, located five south of Saxmundham, close to the A12, and a short drive from Ipswich. YHA Blaxhall is a two-storey detached brick building that dates back to 1851. Originally constructed as a schoolhouse, the property has operated as a youth hostel since August 1963.
The property comprises nine bedrooms that sleep a total of 43 guests, showers and a wet room, as well as benefitting from a dining room with conservatory and two further double bedroom managers cottage. Externally the site houses a car park for 16 vehicles and a lawned trade garden.
Zaine Lamont, Regional Valuations Manager for the Eastern Counties handled the sale and commented: “I am delighted to have completed on yet another sale for the Youth Hostel Association, this time with their site in Blaxhall. I am especially pleased that the property received a sizeable amount of interest and, in turn, to have achieved a sale in excess of the asking price. The purchaser intends to return to its former use as a school with the new ownership group being an experienced firm specialising in the childcare and education sectors.”
The freehold has been purchased by a Hampshire and London based education specialist.
Sidney Phillips sold the YHA Blaxhall off a freehold asking price of £450,000.
